What are HEXes and OmniHexes?
A HEX is an in-game loot crate that can contain a number of different items like cyberlimbs, weapon skins, attachments, and cosmetic items for your character. If you're using the Epic Games Launcher, then the items you decode are NFTs that you digitally own. There are four different rarities or tiers of HEXes: common, uncommon, rare, and epic.
Every HEX has a chance of becoming an OmniHex when it's dropped! OmniHexes guarantee a certain item rarity and can contain any item type. The chances of a HEX becoming an OmniHex are:
- Common OmniHex - 70%
- Uncommon OmniHex - 15%
- Rare OmniHex - 4%
- Epic OmniHex - 1%
OmniHexes give you a better chance at acquiring higher tiered loot and have a wider range of loot. They also come in four different levels of rarity:
- Common - 70% chance to contain a Common item, 30% chance for Uncommon or better
- Uncommon - 80% chance to contain an Uncommon item, 20% chance for Rare or better
- Rare - 90% chance to contain a Rare item, 10% chance for an Epic item
- Epic - Guaranteed Epic Item
How do you obtain HEXes?
You can find HEXes all over Teardrop! Every supply crate has a chance of dropping a HEX so you are bound to find one for yourself or loot it off a fellow player's corpse. Rumor has it that a member of the Nuestros Diablos Gang in Midtown Harbor is carrying a HEX so see if you can find it.
HEXes can also be earned by completing specific missions like scoring high in Deathmatch or from the Battle Pass containing BP items. Keep an eye out for what new missions you get when they refresh.
What do you do once you get a HEX in OTG?
You gotta extract it! There are extractors all over Teardop so make sure to go to one as soon as you get your greedy little blood-soaked hands on a HEX or OmniHex. The time it takes to complete an extraction depends on the rarity of the HEX you have:
- Common - 45 seconds
- Uncommon - 55 seconds
- Rare - 80 seconds
- Epic - 105 seconds
Once you pick up a HEX, you'll be pointed to the closest extractor. If you can't find one, just look for the extractor icon on your map. This is what it looks like:
Whenever a HEX is extracted while playing Extraction Royale, all the players in the squad receive that HEX.
Warning: other players can stop your extraction! That's right Zero, any time an extraction is initiated it gets announced all throughout Teardrop. Where's the fun in making it easy, right? But that also means you can stop an extraction as well! Interacting with the terminal will allow you to hack the extraction and, should you need more time, you can always break the heatsink. Pro tip: kill the other Zero first so that it's easier to stop them from extracting.
Decoding HEXes
Any HEXes you earn will appear in your inventory so that you can decode them using GUN. Depending on the rarity of the HEX, the amount of GUN required to open it will vary. The required amount of GUN for all different tiers of HEXes are:
- Common - 0.5 GUN
- Uncommon - 1 GUN
- Rare - 3 GUN
- Epic - 8 GUN
